Church is to gather
Very rich and interesting meeting with the leader team in Chiang Rai district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thailand this week. This is also to be Church, not only celebrating in a big Cathedral. Felt like coming back to basic: Gathering around the Word (The Bible is in Lahu language) with songs, prayers and conversation. The churches have a very central role in the villages and the leaders are very important in empowering their members for the best of the whole society.
We also had a short stop at McGilvary College of Divinity and the Christian Conference of Asia at Payap University in Chiang Mai.
Both of them have a broad and ecumenical profile and are emphasizing that the faith should grow in local soil and not be something copied from the west as a foreign religion.
